Join Worldwide Flight Services and contribute to the timely delivery of cargo shipment, luggage, and business-to-customer deliveries while ensuring on-time flights operate safely and securely. As a Ramp Agent, you will be part of a global team of cargo, passenger, ramp handling, and technical service experts across 227 airport locations in 27 countries.
Your day-to-day work involves loading and unloading cargo, mail, express packages, and company material on and off aircraft, as well as transporting cargo between aircraft and ramp transfer points. You will also handle receiving, delivering, and physically managing freight and company material at designated express docks, mail, and baggage in the outbound baggage room.
You will operate vehicles with gross weights ranging from 3,000 to 80,000 lbs. in areas congested with aircraft, moving and stationary vehicles, and equipment. This role requires depth perception and the ability to distinguish colors such as red, green, and yellow while positioning vehicles up to aircraft and performing push-out or towing functions.
This part-time position offers the opportunity to develop specialized skills in aircraft ground handling, de-icing, and security monitoring within a fast-paced airport environment. Requirements
- Ability to perform functions in variable weather conditions and environmental conditions including jet engine fumes, vehicle emissions, dust, and jet engine noise
- Ability to lift and carry cargo weighing up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to push, pull, and position loaded containers weighing up to 3,200 lbs.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate vehicles with gross weights of 3,000 to 80,000 lbs.
- Depth perception and ability to distinguish colors red, green, and yellow
- Ability to read and interpret off-load sheets and other operational documents
- Willingness to work variable shifts including early morning and evening hours until duties are complete
Responsibilities
- Load and unload aircraft of cargo weighing up to 70 lbs. in and out of confined cargo areas
- Push, pull, and position loaded containers weighing up to 3,200 lbs. on rollers with and to aircraft
- Drive vehicles with gross weights of 3,000 to 80,000 lbs. in congested areas with aircraft and equipment
- Engage in push-out of aircraft driving 80,000 lb. vehicle or assist by providing guide function to driver
- Transport cargo to and from aircraft driving 3,000 lb. vehicle with attached carts through congested areas
- Read off-load sheets to determine destination of cargo
- De-ice aircraft at heights of up to 20-80 ft., lifting and holding nose, spraying exterior of wings and fuselage with glycol
- Comply with WFS site security procedures and report security breaches or suspicious occurrences
