As a Ramp Agent, you ensure flights run on time by maintaining detailed records of shipped goods, moving baggage and cargo, and guiding aircraft to and from their gates. This role is essential to our ground-side operations at Nashville's airport.
You will comfortably and continuously lift up to 70 lbs of cargo and baggage on and off aircraft, transporting it between terminals and cargo facilities. Frequent bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, and kneeling in confined spaces are required, along with operating motorized equipment.
Work is performed primarily outdoors in all weather conditions, requiring flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays. Safety is paramount—you will take reasonable care of yourself and others, following all health, safety, and compliance guidelines, including regular substance misuse testing.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma, GED, or six months of prior ramp agent work experience.
- Ability to pass all pre-employment testing, including a drug test.
- Capable of safely lifting up to 70 lbs continuously.
- Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English.
- Valid driver's license with no violations over the past 5 years.
- Flexible schedule to work variable shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and able to obtain and maintain required airport security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Lift and move up to 70 lbs of cargo and baggage on and off aircraft, transporting it between aircraft, terminals, and cargo facilities.
- Frequently bend, stretch, push, pull, stack, and kneel in small confined spaces.
- Operate motorized equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, and baggage carts.
- Read and interpret aircraft weight and balance loading instructions, hazardous material labels, loading manifests, and baggage routing tags.
- Maintain detailed records of shipped goods and cargo movements.
- Guide aircraft to and from gates using hand signals or marshalling wands.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support ground operations.
