As a TWU Cargo Ramp Agent, you will load and unload cargo—including mail, express, freight, and company material—on and off aircraft in confined cargo areas. You will also transport cargo between terminals and aircraft, operating vehicles up to 80,000 lbs. in congested ramp environments.

You will work as part of a team alongside cargo, passenger, ramp handling, and technical service experts across 164 airport locations in 18 countries. Safety and security are paramount: you will remain vigilant, report security breaches, and comply with the site security plan for the assigned warehouse.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. and push/pull loads up to 3,200 lbs. on rollers
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate vehicles with gross weights from 3,000 to 80,000 lbs.
  • Depth perception and ability to distinguish colors (red, green, and yellow) for safe vehicle and aircraft operations
  • Ability to work in confined cargo areas and at heights of 20–80 ft.
  • Comfort with hand signals and voice commands for ground-to-cockpit communication
  • Ability to read and interpret off-load sheets and complete paperwork accurately
  • Willingness to work in varied weather conditions and on the ramp around moving aircraft and equipment
  • Must be able to pass a background check and security clearance per airport and company requirements

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload aircraft of cargo weighing up to 70 lbs. within confined cargo areas, and push, pull, and position loaded containers weighing up to 3,200 lbs. on rollers with or to aircraft
  • Drive vehicles with gross weights of 3,000 to 80,000 lbs. in areas congested with aircraft, moving and stationary vehicles, and equipment
  • Engage in push-out of aircraft by driving an 80,000 lb. vehicle or assist by providing guide functions using depth perception and communicating with the cockpit during push-back procedures
  • Transport cargo to and from aircraft using a 3,000 lb. vehicle with attached carts through congested areas
  • Read off-load sheets to determine destination of cargo and complete necessary forms and messages for designated functions
  • De-ice aircraft, clear aircraft windshields, connect and remove ground power and ground start units, and perform push-out and towing functions with proper ground-to-cockpit communication
  • May be assigned to clean aircraft exteriors with specialized cleaning fluids, perform routine cleaning of work areas and ramps, or assist with routine automotive repair and servicing of equipment
  • Lift, connect, and remove overhead 40 lb. KVA electric cable to and from aircraft, and de-ice aircraft at heights of up to 20–80 ft.
