About this role
Responsible for performing various manual tasks of average difficulty in the construction, maintenance, and repair of airport property and grounds. This includes runway and taxiway environments, terminal apron pavements, non-impervious areas, airport parking lots, and roads. Duties are performed both landside and airside.
Operate small tools and small equipment while inspecting assigned tools for readiness and safety. Complete related records and reports, and perform related manual labor. Comply with TSA security requirements during all job duties.
Operate vehicles or heavy equipment in and around active runways and taxiway environments. Follow instructions from FAA traffic controllers, airfield signage, lighting, and paint markings. Work Wed-Sat 8:00 pm-6:00 am as essential personnel subject to overtime and emergency callbacks.
Develop familiarity with FAA Part 139 airfield standards, TSA security, and FAA Part 77 requirements. Establish effective working relationships with co-workers, airport tenants, and the public. Receive support for obtaining CDL-B and MAT endorsements.
Requirements
- No minimum education plus three years of experience or High School Graduate/GED plus one year of experience
- Valid driver’s license and ability to qualify for a City driving permit
- Ability to acquire MAT endorsement within 6 months
- Valid CDL-B with no more than 6 points or ability to obtain within one year from date of employment
- Knowledge of safety precautions and work hazards involved in equipment operation
- Knowledge of traffic laws and regulations involved in equipment operation
- Skill in reading and writing to complete paperwork and read schematic designs and blueprints
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

- 2.5% premium pay for Airfield Maintenance technicians who possess a CDL
