About this role

This position performs, assists, and coordinates a variety of airport operations and maintenance duties, including airfield inspections, airport facilities inspections, and safety and security activities. The role ensures safe and efficient daily operations for both airside and landside activities.

Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring airfield conditions, inspecting airport facilities like the terminal, fuel farm, and hangars, and performing routine FBO aircraft servicing duties such as parking, fueling, and tire inflation. You will also compile and provide information to airport users regarding air traffic procedures, weather conditions, and local services.

Working under the immediate supervision of the Airport Manager, this role interacts with airport tenants, vendors, regulatory agencies, and the public. You will enforce airport rules, conduct wildlife management, coordinate emergency responses, and assist in training and security access screening.

This entry-level position offers hands-on experience in airport operations and a pathway to deepen knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations. You will contribute to the safety and security of the airport environment while supporting special events and grounds maintenance as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma from an accredited school or its equivalent.
  • Six months of training and experience in airport operations, airframe & power plant, or military aviation operations or airfield management.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to airport operations, safety, and security.
  • Ability to perform airfield inspections and assess conditions for safe aircraft operations.
  • Skill in operating airport equipment and vehicles, including fueling trucks and grounds maintenance machinery.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, generate reports, and manage work orders.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and evaluate daily activities of airside and landside operations.
  • Conduct airfield inspections; assess conditions and equipment for safe aircraft operations, record discrepancies, and generate work orders.
  • Inspect airport facilities including terminal, fuel farm, campground, hangars, fences, gates, and lighting/weather systems.
  • Perform routine FBO aircraft servicing duties such as parking, marshalling, fueling, cleaning windows, tire inflation, and rental car coordination.
  • Conduct wildlife management in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, plans, and procedures.
  • Coordinate appropriate actions in response to airport emergencies, accidents, and incidents.
  • Assist in enforcement of airport rules, minimum standards, and safety/security policies; investigate and record violations.
  • Assist in airfield driving training, security training, and other training required by regulations.
