About this role

Forward Air is seeking capable and career-oriented individuals to work in our fast-paced shipping/dock operation. Cargo Handlers are responsible for loading and unloading freight on trailers in a safe and timely manner. Frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying of freight is required, with all necessary training and materials provided.

Cargo Handlers use handheld scanners to efficiently track and maneuver freight through the distribution network. They accurately label boxes and prepare freight for shipment. Safely load and unload trailers by utilizing equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts.

Verify documentation and condition of freight to assure quality standards are achieved. Maintain a clean and safe working environment. Thrive as a strong team player in a fast-paced setting with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Obtain certification and safely operate forklift and other machinery as required. Flexible to work weekends and overtime as needed. Eligible for 401k in this career-oriented role.

Responsibilities

Load and unload 53 ft. commercial trailers and operate scanners
Use handheld scanners to efficiently track and maneuver freight through the distribution network
Accurately label boxes and prepare freight for shipment
Safely load and unload trailers utilizing hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts
Obtain certification and safely operate forklift and other machinery as required
Verify documentation and condition of freight to assure quality standards
Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally up to 90 pounds
Maintain a clean and safe working environment
