This role leads the outbound bag room and oversees the unloading and loading of luggage, freight, and cargo on and off commercial aircraft. You will drive small specialized commercial vehicles and perform heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, and stretching while adhering to safety procedures.
You will lead and participate in moving cargo and baggage between aircraft, terminals, and air cargo facilities, safely lifting up to 70 lbs. Ramp Agents are assisted in their areas to ensure professional, safe, and efficient performance according to company and carrier standards.
Training employees during on-the-job training or airline-specific assignments is a key part of this role. You will also read and complete aircraft weight and balance load sheets, hazardous material labels, and cargo routing tags. Requirements
- Prior ramp experience is preferable.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be comfortable lifting and moving 70 lbs.
- Must pass drug testing.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing.
- Must pass FBI background check and obtain US Customs seal.
Responsibilities
- Lead and participate in the movement of cargo and baggage on and off aircraft, transporting it between aircraft, outbound bag room, airport terminals, and air cargo facilities.
- Safely and continuously lift and move 70 lbs of cargo and baggage from the outbound bag room to and from aircraft.
- Assist Ramp Agents in their assigned areas to ensure duties are performed professionally, safely, and efficiently per company and carrier standards.
- Train employees during on-the-job training and airline-specific training, or assign employees to work with experienced agents.
- Read, interpret, and complete aircraft weight and balance load sheets, hazardous material identification labels, aircraft loading manifests, and baggage and cargo routing tags.
- Drive and operate small specialized commercial vehicles on the airfield.
- Adhere to all safety standards, procedures, and protocols to ensure work is performed safely.
