About this role

The Airport Operations Representative II ensures airport operations are carried out safely and efficiently in accordance with FAA regulations and City policies. This position maintains compliance across aircraft operating areas at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Daily work involves inspecting runways, taxiways, and ramps for proper and safe operations while initiating corrective actions. The role also monitors construction activity to ensure compliance with Advisory Circulars and provides escorts in aircraft movement areas.

Emergency response duties include directing activities for aircraft incidents, hazmat spills, and bomb threats in line with the Airport Emergency Plan and FAR Part 139. The representative participates in the Safety Management System and operates within the Airport’s Incident Command Structure during events.

Additional responsibilities cover communicating with airline and cargo tenants, issuing Notices to Airmen, and monitoring weather impacts on operations. The position assists with training, budget development, and preparing reports for executives and airport stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of FAA Part 139 requirements and airfield safety standards
  • Ability to operate within an Incident Command Structure during emergencies
  • Experience conducting safety inspections of runways, taxiways, and construction areas
  • Skill in preparing and disseminating operational reports and Notices to Airmen
  • Capability to coordinate with airlines, contractors, and multiple airport departments

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and inspect aircraft operating areas for compliance with FAA and City policies and regulations
  • Inspect runways, taxiways, and ramps for proper and safe operations and initiate corrective actions
  • Direct response activities for aircraft emergencies, hazmat spills, and other incidents per the Airport Emergency Plan
  • Coordinate with construction contractors on airfield projects and monitor compliance with Advisory Circulars
  • Provide escorts in aircraft movement areas and enforce City codes and federal regulations
  • Direct snow removal operations according to established plans
  • Monitor, track, and record aircraft utilizing common use parking areas and cargo bays
  • Issue Notices to Airmen and prepare reports for executives, agencies, and tenants
