About this role

Calm Air International LP operates a regional airline serving northern Central Canada with scheduled passenger, charter, and cargo flights. The Cargo Handler position supports daily ramp and warehouse operations at the Rankin Inlet base to keep freight moving safely and on time.

Air Transport Cargo Handlers drive ramp vehicles, marshal aircraft, open cargo doors, and load or unload baggage and freight. They receive, count, tag, weigh, and scan shipments while using the Amelia Cargo System to manifest and track consignments.

Work takes place in a fast-paced airport warehouse and ramp environment that requires shift coverage including mornings, evenings, and weekends. Handlers maintain warehouse organization, monitor coolers and freezers, and deliver on-hand reports while following Transport Canada and company procedures.

Calm Air values motivated individuals who can work independently and as part of a skilled team. Preference is given to Inuit Land Claims Beneficiaries, and Inuktitut or Inuinnaqtun language skills are considered an asset.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is an asset
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math
  • Valid driver’s license Class 5F
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and obtain AVOP pass per Transport Canada rules
  • Criminal Reference Check required
  • Previous warehousing, receiving, or inventory control experience is an asset
  • Inuktitut and/or Inuinnaqtun language considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Drive and operate ramp-servicing vehicles and equipment
  • Position passenger loading stairs and operate aircraft cargo doors
  • Marshal or tow aircraft to gate positions for loading and unloading
  • Load, unload, and sort passenger baggage and freight according to security regulations
  • Receive, count, tag, weigh, and transport all incoming freight between aircraft and warehouse
  • Use the Amelia Cargo System to arrive, depart, allocate, manifest, and create consignments
  • Perform daily inventory, organize warehouse storage, and provide on-hand cargo reports
  • Answer customer inquiries and prepare freight while adhering to Calm Air policies
