About this role
The Assistant Director of Airfield Maintenance and Operations serves as operational and financial subject matter expert to maintain the airport system as an award-winning airport in the aviation industry. This role oversees the Dallas Airport System, including Dallas Love Field, Dallas Executive Airport, and Vertiport. It performs advanced high-level management and supervision for all airfield maintenance and operations tasks to ensure security, safety, and efficiency.
Directs, plans, and oversees operations and maintenance of all airfields in the DAS while managing airside, landside, and regulatory activities. Handles airfield emergencies and weather-related needs for safe operations. Ensures runways, taxiways, and runway safety areas within the AOA remain in good standing with the FAA.
Manages multiple Senior Managers to align with overall Airport System goals and enhance operational efficiency. Oversees all vendors and consulting services related to the Operations Department. Collaborates closely with managers to address construction issues and minimize maintenance impacts on airport efficiency.
Develops and executes departmental strategic plans aligned with organizational goals and ensures compliance with aviation mandates. Manages budgets for airside and airfield operations while communicating with executive leadership on strategies and reports. Identifies areas for quality management to enhance productivity through improved procedures.
Requirements
- Serves as operational and financial subject matter expert for airport system maintenance
- Ability to collaborate with all stakeholders to solve day-to-day problems with innovative solutions
- Empowers managers to use high levels of problem solving and deductive reasoning
- Understands FAA Part 139/CFR 49 and city, state, and regional rules and regulations
- Advanced management and supervision skills for airfield maintenance and operations
- Experience managing airside and landside activities in airport environments
- Knowledge of aviation mandates and standards for safety and security
- Proficiency in developing budgets and strategic plans for airfield operations
Responsibilities
- Directs, plans, and oversees the operations and maintenance of all airfields in the DAS
- Manages, oversees, and monitors all airside, landside, and regulatory activities throughout the Airport
- Manages airfield emergencies and weather-related needs for safe operations
