About this role
The Airport Operations Supervisor leads, develops, and maintains strategic relationships with JetBlue crewmembers, internal departments, and customers. This role directly oversees and supports crewmembers responsible for safely performing all processes above the wing, including customer check-in, baggage acceptance, and boarding.
Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring safety and security programs, resolving escalated customer and crewmember issues, and briefing teams prior to each shift. The Supervisor strategically identifies operational challenges and implements improvements to maximize on-time performance initiatives.
This role partners closely with the Manager(s) to execute the operational strategy, ensuring successful customer interactions, cost control, revenue growth, and safety standards. The Supervisor also collaborates with JetBlue University and Field Educators to ensure effective training that upholds safety standards.
Through timely coaching and mentoring, the Supervisor contributes to the successful development of a growing team environment. This leadership position offers the opportunity to assume Manager or General Manager responsibilities when they are not available, supporting career growth within the airport operations team.
Requirements
- Ability to obtain and stay current on Airport and/or Ground Operations qualifications as required.
- Experience leading and overseeing airport operations above the wing, including customer check-in, baggage handling, and boarding.
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills to support crewmember development and engagement.
- Ability to resolve escalated customer and crewmember issues effectively.
- Knowledge of safety and security programs and federal regulations applicable to airport operations.
- Ability to collaborate with management and business partners to execute operational strategy.
- Experience evaluating crewmember shift schedules and assignments to maximize efficiency during regular and irregular operations.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and execute safety and security programs to ensure a safe workplace for crewmembers, customers, aircraft, facilities, and ground service equipment.
- Provide exceptional service by leading the delivery of hospitality and JetBlue Promises in line with customer expectations.
- Resolve and handle escalated issues with customers and/or crewmembers.
- Support, coach, and train airport crewmembers through effective performance management and ongoing constructive feedback.
- Brief crewmembers and business partners prior to each shift and report relevant information including maintenance issues or cancellations.
- Strategically identify operational challenges and implement improvements to ensure the success of on-time performance initiatives.
- Direct and guide crewmembers through operational issues while coordinating efforts with stakeholders and business partners.
- Ensure policies and procedures comply with System Airports Performance and Quality standards and applicable federal regulations.
