About this role

As a Part-Time Ramp Agent with United Ground Express at the Albuquerque International Sunport, you will be the backbone of ground operations, ensuring aircraft are safely and efficiently prepared for departure. This role is essential to maintaining on-time performance and delivering a seamless travel experience for our customers.

Your day-to-day involves lifting baggage, boxes, and cargo weighing up to 70 lbs., often handling over 100 items for a single aircraft. You will drive ground equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, and bag carts, and you will ascend and descend jet-way stairs while carrying baggage, working both on the ramp and inside the aircraft.

You will work outdoors in all temperatures and weather conditions, collaborating closely with flight crews and co-workers using radio electronic devices. The role requires strict adherence to United and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, ensuring every operation meets the highest safety and compliance standards.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Must acquire and maintain credentials including fingerprint clearance, local airport badging, and background check
  • Successful completion of pre-employment process including drug screen, hearing and vision check
  • Available to work any shift including day or night, weekends, and holidays; mandatory overtime may be required
  • Comfortable working with computers, mobile devices, and new technologies
  • Must be able to read, write, fluently speak, and understand the English language
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Responsibilities

  • Lift baggage, boxes, or cargo weighing up to 70 lbs. throughout your shift, including lifting over 100 items for a single aircraft
  • Push and pull loaded and empty carts during loading and unloading operations
  • Ascend and descend jet-way stairs while carrying baggage
  • Bend, stoop, and crawl to move and stack or unstack cargo in aircraft
  • Drive ground equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, and bag carts to support aircraft push-in, push-out, and baggage delivery
  • Clean the interior of aircraft and service aircraft lavatories
  • Read and interpret aircraft load sheets, checked baggage tags, and cargo labels
  • Use radio electronic devices to communicate with co-workers or flight crew
