About this role

The Airside Operations team at Denver International Airport has an opening for an Airport Operations Officer (AOO) otherwise known as an Assistant Airport Operations Manager (AAOM). This position manages day-to-day operations to ensure the safety and security of the traveling public and airport employees. Work on the airfield to monitor compliance of airport and federal regulations.

Inspect runway, taxiway, and ramp areas for changing surface conditions and advise the AOM on those conditions affecting operations. Assist with TSAR 1542 compliance, emergency management, and snow removal operations. Coordinate the issuance of Notices to Air Missions (NOTAM) as directed.

Report to the airfield for 4-10 hour shifts such as Sunday-Wednesday or Wednesday-Saturday. Demonstrate flexibility to work day, swing, or night shifts. Collaborate with a team of AAOMs, Airport Operations Supervisor (AOS), and Airport Operations Manager (AOM).

Gain hands-on experience in airfield management and airport operations. Take on additional responsibilities with potential for growth. Contribute to resolving emergencies, security issues, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of 14 CFR Part 139 standards for airport certification
  • Familiarity with TSAR 1542 security regulations
  • Ability to inspect airfield pavements for surface conditions and foreign object debris
  • Experience coordinating NOTAMs and airport notices
  • Training in incident command system for airport emergencies
  • Proficiency using airport work order systems
  • Flexibility to work day, swing, or night shifts on the airfield
  • Capability to respond to airfield in adverse weather conditions

Responsibilities

  • Assists the duty AOM in managing, coordinating, and resolving airport emergencies, security problems, environmental issues, and other unusual events affecting airport operations
  • Inspects runway, taxiway, and ramp areas for changing surface conditions and advises the AOM on those conditions
  • Coordinates the issuance of Notices to Air Missions (NOTAM) as directed
  • Assists the Incident Commander for all airport emergencies such as aircraft alerts, snow emergencies, severe weather, irregular operations (IROPS), and security breaches
  • Responds to the Emergency Operations Center as needed to fill General Staff Positions within the Incident Command Structure
  • Creates work orders within the airport work order system to address regulatory compliance with airfield maintenance and repair needs
  • Monitors and assesses the completeness of work by others to ensure it conforms with acceptable 14 CFR Part 139 standards and requests corrective action if necessary
