About this role

The Customer Service Agent interacts with customers in a courteous, efficient, friendly and professional manner. This role supports all passenger touchpoints from ticketing through boarding at the St. Louis airport. Starting pay is $19.64 per hour.

Daily work includes issuing and reissuing tickets, managing reservations, performing check-in and seat assignments, and operating gate readers and jetways. Agents also handle baggage tagging, make boarding announcements, and coordinate hotel or meal accommodations during irregular operations.

Team members work directly with passengers needing special assistance, unaccompanied minors, and connecting travelers while maintaining flight timelines. The position requires predictable on-site attendance, mandatory overtime when needed, and strict adherence to DOT, FAA, and TSA regulations.

Requirements

  • Provide quality customer service in a professional manner and in accordance with American’s guidelines
  • Adhere to government regulations (e.g. DOT, FAA, TSA)
  • Use multiple internal resources/systems including during customer interactions
  • Have regular and predictable attendance on site, including satisfying any mandatory overtime requirements
  • Wear uniforms as required by company policy
  • Complete job-relevant trainings

Responsibilities

  • Issue, reissue and refund passenger tickets
  • Book, ticket and confirm flight reservations
  • Perform passenger check-in, seat assignment and issue upgrades
  • Operate jetways/bridges for boarding and deplaning passengers
  • Make boarding and departure gate announcements
  • Accept, check and tag passengers’ baggage at ticket counters
  • Assist boarding, deplaning and transporting non-ambulatory passengers and unaccompanied minors
  • Respond and assist during security and emergency situations
