As a Security Screener, you will provide security screening to prevent weapons, explosives, and other dangerous items from entering the air transportation system. You will use hand-held metal detectors and conduct physical inspections to ensure aircraft, airports, and staff remain secure.

You will be familiar with all government, airport, client, and company regulations, and courteously communicate with fellow employees. You will actively participate in the Safety Management System, report safety hazards and equipment problems to managers, and conduct physical searches while taking proper action upon detection of dangerous items.

Requirements

Familiarity with Government, Airport, Client, and Company security regulations.
Ability to conduct physical searches and use screening equipment such as hand-held metal detectors.
Attention to detail to detect and handle dangerous items appropriately.
Ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees and law enforcement personnel.
Must be able to pass a background check and substance misuse testing as per company policy.
Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform inspections.
Willingness to attend meetings and in-services as required.

Responsibilities

Conduct security screening using hand-held metal detectors and physical inspections to prevent weapons and dangerous items from entering the air transportation system.
Properly notify Law Enforcement Officers and/or Airline Ground Security Coordinators upon detection of questionable or dangerous items.
Maintain control of dangerous weapons or objects until the arrival of law enforcement.
Report government tests, real weapons, injuries, and other major incidents to the supervisor immediately.
Actively participate in the Safety Management System (SMS) and communicate safety hazards and equipment problems to managers.
Keep supervisor informed of needs and problems in assigned areas, and maintain cleanliness of the work area.
Utilize appropriate communications channels and maintain records, reports, and files as required.
