As a Security Screener, you will prevent the introduction of weapons, explosives, and other dangerous items into the air transportation system. Using available screening equipment such as hand-held metal detectors and physical inspections, you will provide security for aircraft, airports, air carriers, and staff.

In this role, you will conduct physical searches, take proper action upon detection of questionable or dangerous items, and notify Law Enforcement Officers or the Airline Ground Security Coordinator when necessary. You will also maintain control of discovered items until their arrival and report all government tests, real weapons, injuries, and major incidents to your supervisor immediately.

You will actively participate in the Safety Management System (SMS), communicate safety hazards and equipment problems to managers, and keep your supervisor informed of needs and problems in your assigned area. Requirements

Must be familiar with all Government, Airport, Client, and Company regulations
Ability to conduct physical searches and take proper action upon detection of questionable or dangerous items
Capability to maintain control of discovered items until arrival of Law Enforcement Officer
Willingness to attend meetings and in-services as required
Ability to utilize appropriate communications channels and maintain records, reports, and files as required
Must utilize company and client equipment, supplies, and resources in a conscientious, cost-effective manner

Responsibilities

Conduct security screening using hand-held metal detectors and physical inspections to prevent weapons, explosives, and dangerous items from entering the air transportation system
Deal courteously and communicate effectively with fellow employees
Actively participate in the Safety Management System (SMS)
Communicate safety hazards and equipment problems to managers
Conduct physical searches and take proper action upon detection of questionable or dangerous items
Notify Law Enforcement Officers and/or Airline Ground Security Coordinator immediately when necessary
Ensure safe handling of dangerous or deadly weapons and objects until arrival of Law Enforcement Officer
Report all government tests, real weapons, injuries, and major incidents to supervisor immediately
