About this role
The Maintenance Operative is responsible for carrying out reactive, planned and preventative maintenance across the site, ensuring all building, grounds and facility-related works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard. This role may also require travel between company sites to support maintenance activities as needed.
Day-to-day tasks include undertaking scheduled maintenance and repair works to meet compliance requirements, responding to reactive maintenance requests through a prioritised work request system, and planning proactive maintenance and repair works as identified. The role also involves purchasing and managing materials and supplies, sourcing and coordinating external contractors when work cannot be completed in-house, and providing emergency out-of-hours support when required.
This position is primarily site-based and involves working across buildings, grounds and operational areas. The successful candidate will work with minimal supervision while collaborating as part of a team when required, applying Kaizen principles and participating in continuous improvement activities relevant to the role and working environment.

Requirements
- Previous experience in one or more relevant maintenance trades, such as joinery, fitting, plumbing or electrical work.
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Able to manage own workload effectively and work collaboratively as part of a team when required.
- Flexible approach to work and changing priorities.
- Full UK driving license, with willingness to travel between company sites as required.
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the site, buildings and grounds are maintained in a clean, tidy and presentable condition.
- Undertake scheduled maintenance and repair works to meet compliance requirements.
- Undertake reactive maintenance and repair works based on a prioritised work request system.
- Plan and undertake proactive maintenance and repair works as identified.
- Travel between company sites as required to support maintenance activities of a similar nature.
- Purchase and manage materials and supplies required to undertake scheduled, reactive and proactive maintenance tasks.
- Source and coordinate external contractors where work cannot be completed in-house.
- Provide emergency out-of-hours support when required, including assistance to out-of-hours staff or security.
