About this role

This role performs detailed and complex facilities maintenance functions across airport and ground-side operations. The technician investigates and recommends ways to improve daily job efficiencies for key support systems.

Day-to-day duties include maintaining HVAC equipment, compressed air systems, steam generation and distribution, and loss prevention equipment. The technician also handles snow and ice removal from walks and roadways for the airport, along with plumbing, piping, electrical, and minor carpentry repairs.

Working both independently and as part of a team, this position coordinates cross-functional projects with other departments. Strong mechanical skills and the ability to read equipment diagrams and schematics are essential for success in this environment.

This role offers the opportunity to support energy and operational cost reduction initiatives while improving reliability and quality of critical support systems like compressed air, chilled water, and steam. The technician will also contribute to maintaining and improving building and grounds infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 3 years related work experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Capable of reading and understanding equipment diagrams and schematics.
  • Strong mechanical skills.
  • Knowledge of three phase power.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution.
  • Strong hands-on ability.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for internal and external contacts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general facilities duties including HVAC equipment, compressed air equipment, steam generation and distribution, and loss prevention equipment.
  • Study plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements.
  • Maintain and improve building and grounds infrastructure and support systems.
  • Support department with energy/operational cost reduction and reliability/quality improvement projects on key support systems – compressed air, chilled water and steam.
  • Perform snow and ice removal from walks and roadways for the airport.
  • Perform plumbing and piping repairs, replacement of plumbing fixtures, valves, and other devices.
  • Repair and rebuild pumps.
  • Remove, install, and replace lighting, repair and replace electrical devices.
