About this role

Forward Air seeks capable and career-oriented individuals for its fast-paced shipping and dock operation. Cargo Handlers load and unload freight on trailers safely and timely. Frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying of freight is required, with all training and materials provided.

Daily tasks include operating handheld scanners to track and maneuver freight through the distribution network. Workers accurately label boxes and prepare freight for shipment. They safely load and unload trailers using hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts.

The role demands thriving in a fast-paced environment as a strong team player. Flexibility for weekends and overtime is essential. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills support efficient operations.

Certification for forklift and machinery operation is obtained on the job. Verify freight documentation and condition to meet quality standards. Maintain a clean and safe working environment while handling other assigned duties.

Requirements

Excellent communication and problem solving skills

Flexible to work weekends and overtime as needed
Forklift and general freight handling knowledge is a plus
Must be 18 or older
Able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds
Able to occasionally lift up to 90 pounds

Responsibilities

Load and unload 53 ft. commercial trailers and operate scanners
Use handheld scanners to track and maneuver freight through distribution network
Accurately label boxes and prepare freight for shipment
Safely load and unload trailers using hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts
Obtain certification and safely operate forklift and other machinery
Verify documentation and condition of freight to assure quality standards
Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 90 pounds
Maintain a clean and safe working environment

Benefits

Weekdays pay at $19.00/hr, Saturday & Sunday at $22.00/hr
Schedules: Thursday & Friday 9am - Finish, Saturday 8am - 7pm, Sunday 7am - Finish or Sunday 7am - Finish, Monday 11am - Finish, Tuesday & Wednesday 9am - Finish
All necessary training and materials provided
