As a Security Screener, you will provide security screening to prevent weapons and dangerous items from entering the air transportation system.

Using hand-held metal detectors and conducting physical inspections, you will screen passengers and items. You must be familiar with all government, airport, client, and company regulations, and communicate courteously with fellow employees. You will actively participate in the Safety Management System and report safety hazards.

You will work alongside law enforcement and airline security coordinators, notifying them immediately when necessary. Maintaining control of dangerous items until their arrival and reporting all tests, real weapons, and incidents to supervisors are critical duties. You will keep your work area clean and attend required meetings.

Requirements

Familiarity with Government, Airport, Client, and Company security regulations.
Ability to conduct physical searches and operate hand-held metal detectors and other screening equipment.
Capacity to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify suspicious items.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with passengers, colleagues, and law enforcement.
Must be able to pass a background check and obtain airport security clearance.
Willingness to work in a team-oriented environment and participate in safety management systems.

Responsibilities

Familiarize yourself with all Government, Airport, Client, and Company regulations.
Deal courteously and communicate effectively with fellow employees.
Actively participate in the Safety Management System (SMS).
Conduct physical searches and take proper action upon detection of questionable or dangerous items.
Notify Law Enforcement Officer and/or Airline Ground Security Coordinator when necessary.
Ensure safe handling of dangerous or deadly weapons until arrival of law enforcement.
Report all Government tests, real weapons, injuries, and other major incidents to supervisor immediately.
Utilize appropriate communications channels and maintain records, reports, and files as required.
