The A&P Aircraft Maintenance Technician performs inspections, tests, maintenance, and service of aircraft using test equipment and hand tools to return aircraft to service per FAA and manufacturers specifications. Based in Honolulu, HI, this role involves leading small projects and ensuring compliance with aviation standards. It demands precision and technical expertise in general aviation.
Day-to-day duties include conducting routine maintenance and inspections on general aviation aircraft, accurately completing paperwork and work order details in Corridor, and making technical decisions regarding discrepancies and job flow. Technicians utilize outside resources as authorized and ensure proper care of customer property throughout all work phases. They maintain a clean, organized work area including personal toolbox.
Work occurs in an aircraft hangar environment with moderate noise levels, exposing employees to inside conditions protected from weather but not temperature changes. The role requires lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, wearing a respirator or air hood, and working in confined spaces. Support equipment must be used safely to accomplish tasks.
Growth opportunities include leading small projects, advancing troubleshooting abilities, and broadening knowledge of aircraft systems. Desirable leadership, quality, or sheet metal experience supports progression. Travel for training to the mainland or AOG recovery to other islands enhances skills in dynamic aviation operations.
Requirements
- Airframe and Powerplant Certification required
- Advanced troubleshooting abilities
- Broad knowledge of aircraft systems
- Leadership, Quality, or sheet metal experience desirable
- Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Ability to obtain Airport Issued security badge
- Valid Driver’s License
- Maintain personal toolbox containing standard hand tools
