About this role

As a Part-Time Customer Service Agent with United Ground Express at Syracuse Hancock International Airport, you will be the first and last person passengers interact with, ensuring a seamless check-in and ticketing experience. This role is vital to keeping flights on time and passengers satisfied.

Your day-to-day involves greeting passengers, using reservation software to rebook itineraries and issue boarding passes, and calculating any applicable fees. You will also handle baggage tracking in the Baggage Service Office, lift bags weighing up to 70 lbs., and assist with cleaning and prepping aircraft interiors for the next flight.

You will work closely with flight crews and ground operations using radio electronic devices to communicate effectively. Maintaining composure during flight interruptions and resolving passenger issues according to company and FAA regulations is a key part of the environment.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must acquire and maintain credentials including fingerprint clearance, local airport badging, and background check
  • Successful completion of pre-employment process including drug screen, hearing and vision check
  • Available to work any shift; day or night, weekends, and holidays; mandatory overtime may be required
  • Comfortable working with computers, mobile devices, and new technologies
  • Must be able to read, write, fluently speak, and understand the English language
  • Must be able to carry, bend, lift and turn with bags and other items weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Able to perform physical activities including pushing, bending, stooping, climbing, and working in tight spaces

Responsibilities

  • Greet passengers and provide a seamless check-in and ticketing experience
  • Use reservation/ticketing software to rebook itineraries, issue boarding passes, and calculate/collect appropriate fees
  • Ensure passenger information is processed accurately and flights are sent out on time
  • Listen to passengers and resolve issues in accordance with company policies during flight interruptions
  • Track baggage location and handle passenger questions in the Baggage Service Office
  • Lift baggage, boxes, or cargo weighing up to 70 lbs. throughout your shift
  • Clean the interior of the aircraft and prep/secure the aircraft for the next flight
  • Use radio electronic devices to communicate with co-workers or flight crew
