About this role

The Airport Operations Supervisor leads, develops, and maintains strategic relationships with JetBlue crewmembers, internal departments, and customers. This role directly oversees and supports crewmembers responsible for safely performing all processes above the wing, including customer check-in, baggage acceptance, boarding, and irregular operations.

Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring safety and security programs, resolving escalated customer and crewmember issues, and coaching team members through operational challenges. The Supervisor briefs crewmembers before each shift, reports maintenance issues or cancellations, and evaluates daily shift schedules to maximize efficiency during regular and irregular operations.

This leadership role collaborates closely with the Manager(s) to execute the operational strategy, control costs, drive revenue, and uphold safety standards. The Supervisor also partners with JetBlue University and Field Educators to ensure effective training that leads to successful customer interactions and maintains safety standards.

Opportunities for growth include assuming Manager or General Manager responsibilities when they are not available, and taking a significant role in developing and mentoring airport crewmembers. The Supervisor contributes to the successful development of a growing team environment while strategically identifying operational challenges and implementing improvements.

Requirements

  • Ability to lead, develop, and maintain strategic relationships with crewmembers, internal departments, and customers
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills to contribute to the development of a growing team environment
  • Ability to collaborate with Manager(s) in executing operational strategy to control costs, drive revenue, and uphold safety standards
  • Knowledge of safety and security programs and ability to meet federal and local requirements
  • Experience resolving escalated customer and crewmember issues
  • Ability to evaluate daily crewmember shift schedules and assignments for maximum efficiency during regular and irregular operations
  • Willingness to obtain and stay current on Airport and Ground Operations qualifications as required
  • Ability to ensure policies and procedures comply with System Airports Performance and Quality (SAPQ) and applicable federal regulations

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and execute safety and security programs to ensure a safe and secure workplace for crewmembers, customers, aircraft, facilities, and ground service equipment
  • Provide exceptional service to internal and external customers by leading the delivery of hospitality and JetBlue Promises
  • Resolve and handle escalated issues with customers and crewmembers
  • Support, coach, and train airport crewmembers, encouraging engagement and development through effective performance management and feedback
  • Brief crewmembers prior to each shift and report all relevant information to the crewleader on duty, including maintenance issues or cancellations
  • Strategically identify operational challenges and implement improvements to maximize on-time performance initiatives
  • Assume Manager or General Manager responsibilities when they are not available
  • Direct and guide crewmembers through operational issues while coordinating with stakeholders and business partners
