Ramp Agents at United Ground Express handle the critical ground operations that keep flights on schedule at Chicago O'Hare. The role centers on loading and unloading aircraft while operating specialized ground support equipment in a fast-paced airport environment.

Daily work includes lifting and maneuvering baggage up to 70 lbs, driving tugs and belt loaders, and pushing loaded carts to and from aircraft. Agents also clean aircraft interiors, service lavatories, and secure planes for the next departure using load sheets and cargo labels.

Work takes place outdoors in all weather conditions with frequent bending, climbing jet-way stairs, and operating in tight cargo spaces. Radio communication with crew and coworkers is constant while following strict FAA and company safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must possess a valid state-issued driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Must acquire and maintain credentials including fingerprint clearance, local airport badging, and background check
  • Available to work any shift; day or night, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to carry, bend, lift and turn with bags and other items weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Must be able to read, write, fluently speak, and understand the English language
  • Comfortable working with computers, mobile devices, and new technologies
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Responsibilities

  • Lift baggage, boxes, or cargo weighing up to 70 lbs. throughout your shift
  • Drive ground equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, and bag carts
  • Push/pull loaded and empty carts during loading/unloading operations
  • Clean the interior of the aircraft and service aircraft lavatories
  • Read and interpret aircraft load sheets, checked baggage tags, and cargo labels
  • Prepping and securing the aircraft for the next flight
  • Ensure compliance with United and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and policies
  • Ascend/descend jet-way stairs while carrying baggage
