About this role

The Airport Operations Supervisor is responsible for organizing and directing the proper use, care and safety of the Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport property and operations department. This role supervises airport operations staff and coordinates activities essential for the efficient, safe, and continuous operation of the airport.

Day-to-day work includes maintaining the airport certification manual, issuing NOTAMs, and overseeing FAA mandated programs such as the Access Control & Badging System and Wildlife Hazard Management Plan. The supervisor also manages construction activity, storm water management, and emergency response procedures while ensuring compliance with FAR Part 139.

This on-site position works Monday-Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call requirements. The role serves as spokesman for the airport and acts as incident manager during emergencies, coordinating with FAA Air Traffic Control and other agencies.

The position participates in mandatory snow removal operations and maintains ARFF training to FAA standards. It offers opportunities to develop and implement standard operating procedures while working extensively with federal, state, and local agencies on airport safety and operations.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of FAA requirements and directives for airport operations and certification.
  • Experience maintaining compliance with FAR Part 139 and Airport Rules and Regulations.
  • Ability to manage FAA mandated programs including Access Control & Badging System and Wildlife Hazard Management Plan.
  • Training and certification to serve as an Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF).
  • Experience issuing NOTAMs and maintaining airport certification manuals and training records.
  • Capability to supervise snow removal operations on an active airfield and coordinate with FAA Air Traffic Control.
  • Skill in monitoring construction projects and working with engineers on infrastructure and grant-funded work.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise airport operations ensuring a safe and functional airport that exceeds all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements and directives.
  • Manage FAA mandated programs including the Access Control & Badging System, Wildlife Hazard Management Plan, airport emergency response procedures, employee training, construction management, and storm water management.
  • Maintain the airport certification manual, employee training records, and issue NOTAMs for publication.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with FAR Part 139 and Airport Rules and Regulations.
  • Monitor airport construction activity including infrastructure projects, grants, and local funding while working closely with engineers and consulting firms.
  • Act as airport incident manager and provide continuous support to operations personnel during emergencies.
  • Respond to aircraft emergencies as an Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF) and maintain training to FAA standards.
  • Supervise snow removal operations and direct teams operating heavy equipment on an active airfield in coordination with FAA Air Traffic Control.
