About this role
The Airport Operations & Maintenance Specialist ensures the safety, security, and maintenance of airport grounds, equipment, buildings, and facilities. The role includes responding to Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) situations. Employees are cross-trained to perform all Fixed Base Operator (FBO) services as backup.
Daily tasks involve performing inspections of equipment, facilities, and the airport environment to maintain regulatory compliance. Staff repair and maintain runways, taxiways, hangars, roads, grounds, equipment, vehicles, and access controls. They also manage inventory and ensure cleanliness of airport-owned buildings.
Work occurs in a 24-hour operation with varying shifts such as 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., including call-outs for servicing and maintenance. Conditions include exposure to inclement weather, heavy equipment, noise, fumes, and hazards like airport traffic and ARFF responses.
Employees work independently or in teams, providing oversight and direction to others as needed. All duties emphasize excellent customer service to pilots, passengers, tenants, and the public while complying with federal, city, and airport regulations.
Requirements
- Ability to perform all essential duties of FBO Services Agent and Airport Operations Agent
- Capability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds unaided
- Tolerance for physically demanding work including repeated standing, climbing, bending, and crouching
- Availability for varying shifts and 24-hour call-outs for aircraft servicing and maintenance
- Readiness to respond to ARFF situations and work in hazardous conditions like inclement weather and airport traffic
- Cross-training in fueling and servicing aircraft with excellent customer service to pilots and passengers
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations for airport operations and maintenance
Responsibilities

- Maintain inventory of all products, tools, and equipment

- Provide oversight and direction of other staff as needed
