About this role

Supervise and participate in the work of semi-skilled and skilled workers performing maintenance and repair of airfield markings, pavement repairs, mowing, heavy equipment operating, and RSA/TSA signage. Knowledge of FAA Part 139 Certification requirements is essential. Work is performed under strict FAA and TSA guidelines, time limitations, and limited supervision.

Review, investigate, resolve, or make recommendations about requests for service or property maintenance while maintaining FAA Part 139 and TSA security compliance. Coordinate and supervise daily use and maintenance of supplies and equipment. Assign, test, and train on specialized airport-specific equipment such as loaders, backhoes, dozers, and snowplows.

Supervise crews of Airfield Maintenance Technicians consisting of AMT I’s, AMT II’s, and AMT III’s operating sweepers, water flushers, grading equipment, and performing pavement repairs and FOD removal. Involves considerable contact with FAA, contractors, airline tenants, and airport employees. Perform duties in and around active runway and taxiway environments following FAA traffic controllers and airfield markings.

Train new technicians in Department and Division training, provide ongoing training, and maintain accurate training records. Originate documentation for employee performance appraisals. Position works 1st shift Tuesday-Friday 6:00 AM-4:00 PM as essential personnel subject to overtime, inclement weather, and emergency calls.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of FAA Part 139 Certification requirements
  • Familiarity with TSA security requirements
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment including loaders, backhoes, dozers, skid steers, dump trucks, and snow removal equipment
  • Supervisory experience with maintenance crews
  • Proficiency maintaining accurate records, work orders, and training documentation
  • Ability to work under limited supervision with strict time limitations
  • Capacity to perform duties in active runway and taxiway environments

  • Review and maintain accurate records and work orders daily
  • Originate and maintain documentation for employee performance appraisals
  • Train new technicians and provide ongoing training for experienced technicians while maintaining training records
  • Operate loaders, backhoes, dozers, skid steers, dump trucks, multifunction snowplows, and airport-specific snow equipment
  • Perform job duties in active runway and taxiway environments following FAA traffic controllers, signage, lighting, and markings
