About this role

As a Part-Time Outbound Freight Handler, you will load and unload freight onto and off of equipment and assist in recouping damaged freight. You will prepare, sweep, inspect, and clean trailers before loading and use safe lifting techniques throughout the process. This role is essential to ensuring outbound shipments are handled safely and efficiently.

You will select and use proper freight handling equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, drum trucks, pallet jacks, and rollers to move and arrange freight. You will weigh and dimension shipments, plan cube utilization, and ensure proper weight distribution when loading freight. Careful blocking and bracing prevents shifting during transport.

This second-shift position places you on the dock at Southeastern Freight Lines in Fort Worth. You will check manifests, freight bills, and labels for special instructions and exceptions, and verify hazardous material paperwork and placarding. Attention to detail in counting freight and documenting shortages or damage is critical.

Preference is given to candidates with a high school diploma or GED, prior warehouse or forklift experience, and a forklift certification. This role offers the chance to work with a variety of freight handling equipment while earning an hourly rate of $18.10 to $21.60 in a part-time setting.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (preferred)
  • Ability to pass a background check and an alcohol and drug test
  • Prior experience as a Forklift Operator, Dock or Warehouse Worker, or Material Handler (preferred)
  • Forklift Certification (preferred)
  • Ability to safely operate freight handling equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, and pallet jacks
  • Availability to work second-shift hours
  • Attention to detail for counting freight, reviewing freight bills, and verifying paperwork

  • Verify hazardous material product description and placarding when loading hazardous material
